Principal Financial Group Business Operations Strategist in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

As a Business Operations Strategist in Principal Trust Company, you'll play a key part in positively impacting our customers. We are looking for a strong candidate who is a self-starter, enjoys working through creative solutions, and has a passion for collaborating across multiple areas to understand their needs and turning those into solutions. You'll become a specialist in supporting Principal Trust Company Non-Qualified trust and paying agent customers and internal business partners. You will have the opportunity to partner with Business Systems, Product Development, and Service Teams with a goal of executing business and operational strategy to streamline and modernize our services and system platforms.

Here are some examples of the types of things you will do:

  • Provide operational consulting resources on complex issues with expertise surrounding one or more trust company products or services. Proactively identify and implement process and system improvements.

  • Inspire change within the division by identifying and pursuing opportunities for improvements to systems, processes and/or services. Represent division on business unit initiatives, committees and projects as assigned.

  • Develop new policies, procedures, workflow approaches and system improvements for trust and paying agent products and services. Lead and facilitate major components of a project/process related to area of expertise.

  • Consult and provide technical expertise to internal and external customers on a variety of complex trust and paying agent topics. May act as subject matter authority for trust company applications, systems, products, and functional areas.

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to internal customers.

  • Lead, coach and mentor Principal Trust operations teams.

  • Supervise the market to identify and recommend business development opportunities and/or changes to services offered to customers. Assist in vendor interactions as needed.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years of retirement plan and/or trust administration related work experience.

  • Must have excellent leadership skills, the ability to influence for results, facilitate change, analytical/documentation skills, organizational skills and decision-making skills.

  • Must be able to build and maintain relationships and facilitate collaboration and communication.

  • Must have the ability to work with people at all levels, including across the enterprise, outside consultants and vendors.

  • Strong technical, financial services product and business processes acumen.

  • Travel may be required.

  • Strong product and systems knowledge.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$95200 - $182400 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements. You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
