Principal Financial Group Tax Analyst - Custody in Minneapolis, Minnesota
What You'll Do
Do enjoy tax-related work? Do you have experience with or interest in learning about custody operations? If so, Principal is looking for you! As a Tax Analyst – Custody, you’ll assist with the preparation and filing of relevant tax returns, be involved with day to day tax operations, and collaborate with internal and external parties to satisfy client needs .
Examples of things you might do:
Assist with the preparation and filing of relevant tax forms (Trust/1099, NRA/FATCA, 5498, etc.)
Help facilitate tax payments to tax authorities
Perform tax reconciliations and other tax-related internal controls
Assist with and monitor the exchange of data and files between Principal and third-party vendors
Assist with and prepare tax-related calculations and tax-related adjustments
Maintain tax-related documents, books, and records consistent with regulatory rules and Principal policy

Who You Are
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
Must have a minimum of 2-4 years related tax experience
Must have solid analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, time management, planning, decision making, and communication skills
Must be detailed oriented
Success in this position requires a strong client service orientation, the ability to work under pressure in a deadline driven, team-based environment and the ability to produce accurate and timely information with minimal supervision
Must be able to handle multiple, increasingly complex, tasks, prioritize effectively and be flexible as business needs change.
Must have the ability to take initiative, be a self-starter and work independently
Skills That Will Help You Stand Out
CPA, Enrolled Agent, or bank trust/informational reporting experience strongly preferred
An understanding of custody accounting system and tax preparation software preferred
Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)
$63750 - $121200 / year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments
This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to determine which option may align best based on several factors.
